This DVD contains the actual, uncut 16mm color footage filmed aboard the USS Intrepid (CVA-11) during Operation Crosswind in 1957. Operation Crosswind was a successful demonstration of how aircraft could be launched despite wind conditions. Down wind launches were also conducted.
Several types of vintage aircraft including a Lockheed TV-2 Shooting Star!
Great launch and recovery sequences.
This film was shot with some sort of a splitter lens. This means that there are two identical images on the screen. In order to make this a single image, I would have had to zoom in to such a point where the video quality would have greatly suffered. Consequently, the footage was left as it was filmed. This is not distracting to me, but to some it might be. Please view the screen captures.
This is still a great USS Intrepid film!
Over 15 minutes running time
