USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65) FILM “ENTERPRISE IN ACTION”

USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65) FILM “ENTERPRISE IN ACTION”

DVD Content
This DVD contains the actual, uncut 16mm B&W Navy produced film titled “Enterprise in Action” which was filmed during the 1965-66 Tonkin Gulf cruise.
This Navy film was produced to highlight the Enterprise, and is simply an awesome film of the Big E. The film focuses on several combat pilots, and life on the ship, and stresses of combat operations. The film was shot throughout the ship, so you will see great scenes of the Big E throughout. The film poignantly ends by showing 4 of the pilots we had met earlier, with captions listing two of them as MIA (they were in fact captured and survived), and 2 KIA.
Great scenes throughout the ship. This film provides a great look at the Big E while operating at sea, and all it takes to keep a large carrier going. Way too much to try and describe, but I promise you will enjoy this film.
Great flight operations as well as aerial scenes, including gun camera footage of actual strikes against Vietnamese targets.
Some liberty scenes in the PI and Olongapo.
This is simply a great film.
About 44 minutes running time.

  • Produced by GRS Videos (TM). GRS Videos is dedicated to the preservation of Naval Aviation film footage. This passion began when the son of a recently deceased Korean War veteran told me how he had thrown away all of those "old 8mm films of planes flying off of a ship". Yes, I cried. Our heritage MUST be preserved. As a veteran of Naval Aviation, I have a strong interest in ensuring that our stories are not forgotten. If you have footage (16mm, 8mm, VHS, Super 8, Beta, or Digital) contact me at PLAT_Collector@verizon.net. I will also gladly trade any footage I have for new footage (any format). So, if I have Naval Aviation footage you want, and you have something I do not have, contact me and I am confident we can work something out. I am always looking for new PLAT mishaps and home movies/video of carrier operations and life on carriers. All proceeds go into obtaining and preserving more Naval Aviation footage. Gary R. Schreffler served on USS Midway (with HS-12) from 1984-1991.
