Imperial Japanese Naval Aviation from WWII

Imperial Japanese Naval Aviation from WWII

DVD Content
This is without question one of the rarest films in my archive. It is a Japanese made film dedicated to Japanese Aviation during WWII, and is a great film today due to the amount of and variety of Japanese planes (along with great Japanese carrier footage) seen throughout this film. We even see a Japanese carrier being launched.
This film was obviously made after WWII in 1948, evidenced by the fact that a few famous U.S. Navy scenes are included in a few spots, to essentially show the Japanese attacks hitting the mark. We also get to take rides in a few Japanese planes, and get to see great footage from inside them, such as cockpits, gunners on bombers, etc.

I know that people on eBay love to throw around the ‘rare’ word like it was salt on popcorn. However, this really is rare footage. I have no clue how many copies of this film exist today (I found it in Japan), but I do know that I have never seen any of the Japanese footage on the History Channel…
Running time: 33 minutes

  • Produced by GRS Videos (TM). GRS Videos is dedicated to the preservation of Naval Aviation film footage. This passion began when the son of a recently deceased Korean War veteran told me how he had thrown away all of those "old 8mm films of planes flying off of a ship". Yes, I cried. Our heritage MUST be preserved. As a veteran of Naval Aviation, I have a strong interest in ensuring that our stories are not forgotten. If you have footage (16mm, 8mm, VHS, Super 8, Beta, or Digital) contact me at PLAT_Collector@verizon.net. I will also gladly trade any footage I have for new footage (any format). So, if I have Naval Aviation footage you want, and you have something I do not have, contact me and I am confident we can work something out. I am always looking for new PLAT mishaps and home movies/video of carrier operations and life on carriers. All proceeds go into obtaining and preserving more Naval Aviation footage. Gary R. Schreffler served on USS Midway (with HS-12) from 1984-1991.
