Carrier Landing Mishaps

US Navy Carrier Landing Mishaps Training Film

DVD Content
This DVD contains contains the original U.S. Navy training film titled, "Carrier Landing Mishaps". This film describes the various ways a pilot and his airplane can crash on an aircraft carrier, and was used for training student pilots
There are 25 crashes on this DVD. While several are on another of my DVDs that has over 250 PLAT flight deck mishaps, there are a number that are only found on this film and DVD. The narrator gives detailed explanations on why these crashes happened, how to avoid them, and on how to make a proper carrier landing. All scenes filmed on aircraft carriers (nothing on land)
As a bonus for A-7 Corsair II fans, this film uses the A-7 for all flight, launching, landing and flight deck taxiing footage. LOTS of great A-7 footage
This is a fairly uncommon training film that will be greatly enjoyed by any Naval Aviation fan
25 minutes running time
The footage has not been edited. It has been left exactly as it was captured from the original 16mm film. It is black and white. As always, if you have ANY questions, please do not hesitate to ask!!

  • Produced by GRS Videos (TM). GRS Videos is dedicated to the preservation of Naval Aviation film footage. This passion began when the son of a recently deceased Korean War veteran told me how he had thrown away all of those "old 8mm films of planes flying off of a ship". Yes, I cried. Our heritage MUST be preserved. As a veteran of Naval Aviation, I have a strong interest in ensuring that our stories are not forgotten. If you have footage (16mm, 8mm, VHS, Super 8, Beta, or Digital) contact me at I will also gladly trade any footage I have for new footage (any format). So, if I have Naval Aviation footage you want, and you have something I do not have, contact me and I am confident we can work something out. I am always looking for new PLAT mishaps and home movies/video of carrier operations and life on carriers. All proceeds go into obtaining and preserving more Naval Aviation footage. Gary R. Schreffler served on USS Midway (with HS-12) from 1984-1991.
