This DVD contains the 8mm color home movies from the 1955 West Pac

This footage was filmed by a member of the V-2 Division. He was assigned to the arresting gear crew, and was a guy who paid attention to what he filmed. Some of the best footage I have. He was also a magnet for mishaps. He filmed no fewer than 5 mishaps, including an AJ Savage coming in with an engine fire and making a very hard landing

The footage also includes scenes of the V-2 guys clowning around on the flight deck, gun battery exercise, UNREP, liberty in the P.I., a short bit from the deck of USS Midway in Yokosuka (he is standing with the big '41' behind him), and LOTS of flight operations

However, some of the best was filmed when he handed his camera to a HOS-3 helicopter pilot, who filmed not only the ship, but launches and traps from the vantage point of the helicopter

This is great footage of a great carrier from the mid 1950s
