UPDATE - The Intruder Association is now the lead in this campaign

From the start of this campaign I hoped a larger organization would come along that had the resources, not only through the A-6 / VA-115 community, but also with a local presence to the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum. From the beginning that was going to be neccessary to do this campaign right. Pete Young and the Intruder Association have taken on the task. Their goal is very similar to mine, but instead of a VA-115 only theme that I had envisioned the IA plans to display the Intruder Story. The broader scope of this theme will be great monument for the entire A-6 community. There will still be plenty of VA-115 history involved as the door art and deck emblem are to be preserved. In addition, the IA is not just interested in raising money for Ready Room 5, but they also want to sponsor the A-6 that is aboard Midway and have it painted in VA-115 colors! This aircraft actually served aboard the Midway in VA-115, so it is only fitting that it painted in the colors of an authentic USS Midway aircraft. The IA has already come through with great donations including big corporate sponsorship. I encourage you to visit the Intruder Association web site and help out in any way you can. Personal items that are donated can be donated on your terms. That means you still own them and get them back. I know that is very important to some and welcome news to hear. I will continue to update this page when I hear news. In the meantime, lets all look forward visiting Ready Room 5!

  • I have changed the "Make a Donation" page to open the Intruder Associations's Preserving the Intruder Story page
  • I have forwarded the donations I have collected with permission, to the Intruder Association
  • I have kept my donor page intact to recognize and thank those that hopped on this idea right away and got the ball rolling. My sincerest thanks to all of you.
