- Summary:
- Today's update - Well, I can't get the Red Bull Racing video converted from WMV to MPG (my version of Gallery does not support wmv). I've uploaded the file to the site though and you can download it HERE. Gary Schreffler sent in two nice Midway photos from the '50's including one where a Navy dirigible touching down on the fantail. Rotor-heads rejoice! I will soon be adding a page for Ready Room 2 sponcored by the Helicoptor Community. Look for a banner on the front page soon!

- Summary:
- Today's update - Vic Vydra, Midway Veteran and member of SDACM sent me some great photos and a video of the Red Bull Racing launch of one their planes from the flight deck on 8/8/07. This was to officially kickoff the start of the new motorsport. There is also a news story and video located HERE. I have the photos uploaded now and I'm working on getting the video converted for the photo gallery. Midway vet Chuck Cavanaugh sent in over 30 photos of some of the newest exhibits on the ship. Also, John Mechelke sent in a great shot of two VA-93 Ravens over the Midway.

- Summary:
- Today's update - I got back from vacation a couple of days ago and I'm still playing catchup. Here are some submissions that recenty came in. John Mechelke sent in several great photos from a 1980's collection he got on ebay. Bob Hartman, Midway docent and former submariner sent in some cool photos of Ready Room renovation progress. Ready Five looks really close to being done. Patrick Driscoll sent in more photos from his tour in the 80's. Tamás Szórád sent me scans from a recent article he wrote about yellow shirts for the Hungarian magazine, Aeromagazin. He interviewed Midway bos'n C. J. Heard for the article. Tamás said he'd send me the English translation when he gets back from holiday. Lastly, I've uploaded a sequence of photos of the Midway pulling into Hunter's Point in the late 50's.
- Dave Schultz, the webmaster of HullNumber.com, has linked CV41.ORG to his USS Midway page. Hullnumber.com hosts Personnel Rosters for 8,700+ US Navy Ships, Submarines and Air Squadrons and is a great resource for shipates. The service is free and always will be. Thanks Dave!

- Summary:
- Today's update - I just received some excellent photos from David Sepos from his Dad's 1949-50 tour aboard the Midway. David's dad Albert was a GySgt assigned to MARDET. This collection includes some very rare USS Midway material that includes Marines, manning 20mm AAA guns, a Martin Mauler in the hangar bay, and F8F Bearcat flight ops. Thanks David!

- Summary:
- Today's update - Late 1950's early 1960's photo of a VF-21 F3H Demon on the cat as a wave comes over the bow. Cool photo! Also uploaded the May 1963 issue of "Midway West".
- I've made a few cosmetic changes to the site one of which was switching from graphic buttons to a rollover menu. I've also reduced the size of some of the main page graphics and moved a few things around so the site looks a little better on systems using 1024x768 display resolution. I really recommend using 1280x1024 if your system (and eyes) can handle it.
- I created an information page for the fleet F/A-18 Hornet community. They are sponsoring VFA-151's old Ready Room One. Funding is coming from the fleet squadrons as well as corporate sponsorship from Boeing, Raytheon, Grumman-Northrup, and GE Engines. You can access the page from the banner on the main page.

- Summary:
- Today's update - Thirteen more photos I acquired on ebay from the Cyril Michel estate. I finally scanned the JO Engineering Instruction Course Book that Gary Schreffler sent in. LtCol Al Pavsner sent in a cool VMAQ-2 DetC2 patch from the last EA-6A deployment. Rick Edwards visited the ship over Memorial Day weekend and sent in sixty photos of new spaces and the flight deck Memorial Day observance. Rick also included a scan of a SDUT article on the event. Rick mentioned that there is a plan to have an "audio animatronics" Captain set up in the Captain's office. He will be triggered by passing through a light beam and will give a short talk about the spaces. BTW - I'll be reorganizing Rick's photos soon into sub albums for easier viewing. Bill Purcell sent me a TopTrump playing card of the Midway that is available in the Jet Shop. I've also uploaded some other recent photos I have aquired from ebay.

- Summary:
- I hope everone is having a safe Memorial Day observance. I say observance because of something Gary Schreffler said to me the other day. He doesn't say, "have a happy Memorial Day" because he remembers friends that paid the ultimate sacrifice since he went to aircrew school. That really had an impact on me as I remember the passing of shipmates, when I think of my nephew in Afghanistan, or my Dad and Grandfather who served before us. So, I wish for all of you to have fun tomorrow with your families, be safe, and think of your shipmates and those serving at home and abroad.
- Today's update - Gary Schreffler has released nearly 190 slide scans from the 1954 Med Cruise. The origin of the slides are unknown and information regarding the crew in the photos would be greatly appreciated. The family of the shipmates in these photos might like to see them. Also, Bill Purcell sent in more great photos of the recently opened FLAG spaces. The restoration crew have been doing an outstanding job on these spaces.

- Today's update - I've uploaded a few new items in the past few weeks, but haven't updated the page. It's been a busy month.... OK, I've been snow mobiling and various other forms of goofing off. We all need a break, right? ;) Latest update includes a news video courtesy of Troy Prince filmed during the SDACM opening day. Rick Patterson sent in a photo of him in the CPO mess after a recent visit to the museum. Jerry Boysel sent in a couple of current photos for his 1950's "and Now" album. I do have some new material yet to scan including a few nice magazine articles. I hope to have them up soon.

- Today's update - Jerry Warner sent in a photo from the W Division reunion last September in Las Vegas, Hank Vyrostek sent in two photos from his '72-73 tour. Gary Schreffler forwarded a Memorial Program from 1954. Per Gary's suggestion. I've ut all of the Memorial programs together in one photo album under "Life Aboard Midway". Lastly, I found a 2005 Midway article in a convention center magazine.

- Today's update - The October 1965 issue of Midway West, Gary Schreffler sent in a short video clip of the Midway preparing to depart Subic in 1983, and I uploaded and re-organized a lot of new prints from AircraftProfiles.dk. - Summary:
- Trying to get caught up after the end of the year rush of other things I had to do. ;) New submissions from Ronald Sundberg, Jerry Boysel, Ralph Hawley, Ike Newkirk, Gary Schreffler. Gary found a new cache of photos in his attic and I'll get them posted ASAP. Ronald Sundberg's son Scott sent me a few photos from his tour in the 50's and hopes to send me more soon. Ronald is probably busy snow mobiling now that we have a little snow in the UP. Jerry sent in one photo each from his tours in the 50's and 60's. Ike sent in a cool IO Sunset photo... not likely that many of us have forgotten what they look like. :) Gary also acquired Ralph Hawley's scrapbook and photo album from Ralph's 1949-52 tour. I've posted one photo so far and will get more on-line as I get them from Gary.
- Check out Gary's DVD page. There are several new titles available from Gary and many more to come soon.
- The 1987-89 USS Midway cruise book "A Magic Moment" is now available in the cruise book store. I am currently working on the 1954 Med Cruise book. After that I just have the 1989-90, 1965, and 1958-59 and I'm DONE!!!!! *though I have a couple of other cruise books I will be scanning once the Midway books are done. Stay tuned for more info on those.
